Iridescent and non-iridescent acrylic paint, charcoal and pastel pencils on ochre Mi Teintes

An experiment using Golden "Iridescent Pearl" acrylic paint applied as a light wash under the figure. The iridescent wash show through strongly even where I have attempted to hide it with pastel pencils and charcoal. Depending on the light and viewing angle, iridescent "highlights" vary from faint to strong. This phenomenon cannot be recorded by still photos such as the one shown here but it lends interest to the piece. It my be a challenge to control this technique as the under-painting, and hence the highlights, are applied before the figure is resolved. This is the reverse of conventional procedure.
